Building Resilient Communities

In the not-so-distant past, in America and in Europe, resilient communities formed naturally through geographic proximity, local trade, and social events. Every town had a center. Every community had leaders who knew their neighbors, did business with them, and showed hospitality to them.

It’s not enough to simply “understand” and acknowledge the fact that we’ve lost these things. Now is the time for American families to reclaim their heritage.

How We Do It

The Lamppost Society is designed to bring this lost way of life into the modern age by utilizing technology to bridge gaps created by expanded geographic separation and reclaim control of local supply chains for the benefit of our neighbors.

We start with a predefined encyclopedia of resources and productions as a framework for small businesses and productive households to network with one another. As the community grows and becomes more sophisticated, not only are supply chains automatically detected, but potential weaknesses are identified as well. The application provides insights for both producers and consumers, and facilitates the human scale interactions that once built our nation.

Join the Initiative

This kind of life isn’t built by accident, but rather, with intention and a focus on relationships within a localized economy. We implement systems that help households understand their needs, stabilize their essentials, and develop their unique skills, rhythms, and productions in order to strengthen local communities as their capacity grows together.

This process requires action, connected communities, and households ready to build a legacy that impacts generations.
